Sundays: General Information

Between September and June, our congregation gathers on Sunday mornings at 10:30 am for a service of about an hour.
Each Sunday brings a rhythm of gathering, music, reflection, and connection. Here’s what you can expect when you join us:
- 10:10 am: Approximately twice a month we have a pre-service sing-along and we invite you to sing or just listen. On other Sundays you can socialize before the service—in person and online. At the hall, please help yourself to a tea or coffee.
- 10:30 am: Our service starts. In person, we meet at Sapperton Community Hall in New Westminster (318 Keary St.) and online using the Zoom platform. You can register for the Zoom link on our website homepage (on the righthand side of the page): beaconunitarian.org. The services are 60–70 minutes long. Each Sunday offers something a little different—sometimes thought-provoking and reflective, sometimes creative and hands-on. We invite you to join us for a few services and experience the full spectrum of what Beacon has to offer.
- After our service, we hope you can stay a while for connection and conversation (in-person and online). Light refreshments are served in Sapperton hall.
Families
You are welcome here! Beacon warmly welcomes families and children as part of our inclusive community. While we do not currently offer a formal children’s program, we aim to create a friendly, relaxed space where all ages feel at home.
Children and youth are invited to sit with their families during the service. A table with quiet activities will be set up at the back of the hall for anyone who enjoys keeping their hands busy while listening. These activities can also be brought back to your seat.
For infants and young children (up to age 5), a nursery area is available for parents to use as needed during the service.
Parking
Parking for the Sunday services, and for any Saturday Beacon event, is available in the parking lot at the back of Sapperton Hall, and in the lane behind the Hall. Parking in the lane, next to the Professional Building, is available to us also, including the spaces that say they are reserved for staff.
If parking in the limited spots on Keary St., one must be sure to obey the city parking signs. There are metered spaces close to the Hall, and free spaces further up the hill. Do not park in the spaces reserved for residents. There is similar street parking on Simpson.
