Sue Sparlin, Lay Chaplain

June 2019

I had the privilege of officiating at a memorial for a wonderful human being in June. I didn’t know the deceased personally, nor did I know the family until they contacted me for Lay Chaplaincy help in creating this celebration of life for their father. But I came to know what a kind and wonderful man he was, one who helped his neighbours and friends, told his children bedtime stories, chatted with strangers, and was an all round good guy. I wish I had known him. Although he will be deeply missed, it was so obvious from the stories people told that he had been a positive influence in their lives and remains so even now. I am grateful for the privilege of Lay Chaplaincy to witness and share in these deep and tender moments.
